In time, if your kids are like mine, the cover will come off. I posted a photo of it, to show size - it's on a standard size spiral notebook and next to my full size Bible. This is smaller than I expected, but it's the same size as the adult compact Bibles by Crossway. (The art for the story of Esther is buried in the middle of the book of Jeremiah if you're looking for it.) Other than the stories and illustrations not lining up, I'm quite happy with this Bible and would recommend it to anyone with children. I don't want to be reading the story of Esther with my daughter and have to go digging through the entire Bible looking for the art that should go with the story. and sometimes the picture isn't even in the right book. Although it drives me absolutely crazy that they aren't lined up with the right chapter that the story that is being depicted is to be found in. I love the illustrations throughout depicting the various popular stories from the Bible. It's a nice small size that fits into children's hands well and it has a hard cover to protect it from being shoved into backpacks and roughed up a bit. It's the same reliable ESV translation of the Bible that my husband and I personally use, and I don't have to be worried about what angle the stories are being told from or what's been left out to make the story more "Kid friendly", because it isn't a "Storybook" Bible, it's the real deal, and yet it's made in such a way that it feels like it's intended for kids. This Bible is exactly what we were looking for. My 3 year old has been looking at a children's picture Bible for a while now, but the more she learns about the Bible, the more frustrated she's become that "My Bible doesn't have the whole story!" It really bothered her that it only had some of the stories that she's been learning, and of those stories that were included, chunks had been cut out, so we started on our hunt for the perfect Bible for her that had the whole story in it.
